WILD WILD WEB

WEB SITE OFFERS PROFIT TO THOSE WHO WATCH THEIR KINKY MOVIES

By REED TUCKER

December 31, 2006 -- IF Paris Hilton weren't already a millionaire, a new Web site called Watchme.com might make her one.

The adult-oriented site invites regular folks to upload their most, um, "private" home movies (like that infamous one of the heirhead cavorting around in the dark) and pays contributors each time their movies are viewed by visitors.

It's a genius idea that combines the homemade, Wild West feel of YouTube with - let's face it - one of the Web's most popular apps: adult content. Why do we get the feeling that whoever came up with this will soon be driving a much nicer car?

"We just thought that user-generated content was going to be the next big thing," says Nick Jones, Watchme.com's marketing director. "And with adult content, there's been amateur stuff for as long as anyone can remember."

The site went live over the summer and, initially, word spread slowly. "Starting out, the selection was pretty thin, but we'll hit 3,000 movies soon. We're getting them in at a furious pace now," Jones says.

So, just what do people send in? Jones says it runs the spicy gamut, from brief, grainy clips shot with a cellphone to well-lit, professional productions. Most contributions, however, are somewhere in between.

Luckily, though, none so far has involved Tommy Lee on a boat.

The site screens each film to make sure nothing illegal is going on (say, with minors or a giraffe). But other than that, management doesn't care what is submitted. "Fat, thin, ugly, whatever," Jones says.

"Though, we get some pretty peculiar stuff that I don't understand why people want to watch," Jones adds. "You get some fearsome-looking people. You've gotta say, 'Why would anyone want to pay to watch that?' It's bizarre, though. Some of these movies I think, 'No way,' but then they make money. So there's a market for just about anything."

Watchme.com works by selling bundles of minutes to viewers: 60 minutes costs 6.95, 1000 costs 49.95. Viewers can watch whatever video they'd like for as long as they like.

The revenue is then split with the video's contributor. Currently, the most popular video on the site has racked up about 7,000 views, putting 3,000 in that contributor's wallet.

Not bad for a movie that didn't require a swimming pool in the San Fernando Valley to make.

"We were surprised by how much we made," says "Gary," 28, a contributor in Florida who has so far posted seven videos he made with his wife. "When we first signed up, we really didn't expect to earn anything, but we made enough for a night on the town and to do a fair amount of our Christmas shopping.

"Initially, we posted the movies because it was naughty," adds Gary . "What a huge turn-on to be exposing such intimate times to such a huge audience. Filming them was also a lot of fun and quite an adventure."

But that doesn't mean Gary and his wife didn't have reservations about revealing their junk just like Britney Spears.

"There's always some doubt when opening yourself up to the world at large. But we both realized that we have exhibitionistic tendencies in our personalities," he says.

The site also allows contributors to reveal as much - or as little - as they like. Some movies that are submitted never show the participants' faces. (Gary, however, really goes for it - his movies show everything.)

"We think everyone should try it. It's a huge rush when people tell you they get off watching your movies," he says.

Yeah, yeah. We're sure it's spiritually enlightening and sexually fulfilling. But let's get to the bottom line, Gary .

"And of course," he says, "when there are dollars backing that statement, it just makes us want to film more!"

October 31, 2006 -- Let's assume for a moment that you haven't sold your online video business for £1.6 billion. How else might you cash in on all those homemade dirty movies you've been shooting in your bedroom? Enter Watchme.com, the lastest player to get in on the amateur video craze, but with a twist. Instead of giving all the videos away for free, they charge users to watch ... but that also means they'll pay you for your "work." Upload a video to their site, and every time someone looks at it you get a little bit of money. Sounds interesting, but will it work? With some smut sharing sites taking down clips left and right, and some of the other video communities still stuck in "beta," maybe folks are willing to drop a little change to see some amateur smut. Or maybe porn fans are too cheap to pay for much of anything. Hey, a lot can happen in one minute.

Watchme.com Makes Money For Wannabe Pornstars

July 4, 2006 -- Time to grab the camera and make some cash from those home-made naughty videos. This month sees the official launch of Watchme.com, a new adult website that enables members of the public to earn money from their home-made naughty movies and clips. Only a month in and the site already has over 2000 members registered with a number of them filming and sending in their own videos.

When video footage is submitted to www.watchme.com it is first checked by the site owners to make sure it meets all their strict guidelines. Assuming the video content is approved, wannabe movie makers can then sit back and wait for the cash to roll in as they get paid every time someone chooses to watch their film on a per-minute basis.

The site offers pay-per-view streaming videos from as little as 8 pence per minute and there are no membership fees and no monthly charges. The unique technology allows members of the public to upload their own home videos onto the site for other visitors to watch. Each contributor then receives a percentage of all revenue generated when the movie is viewed. There is already a large selection of amateur and professionally made movies available, and such is the popularity of the site, fresh content is being added every day by members from the comfort of their own homes.

As well as being able to upload your own content and view other peoples', you can also rate movies, write reviews, and even securely contact the contributors via the site's inbuilt email system. The high level of viewer input means that the site is extremely user-friendly and ensures that it delivers exactly what visitors want to see.

Submitting movies to Watchme.com is easy. You simply register on the site and upload your video file using simple drag-and-drop software. You then write a brief description of your movie and add a photo to promote it. And that's it! You can even log in to the site see exactly how many people have watched it, for how long, and how much you've earned. Once your earnings exceed £15, you can choose to receive payment direct to your bank account, by cheque or via a ePassporte account.

With Watchme.com's already established worldwide market, and the increasing popularity of online movie sharing, the ability to generate revenue from home-movies is now a reality.
